DREAM

A new program helping to secure home loans for DACA recipients is empowering dreamers to become dream homeowners! As of January 20, 2021, eligible Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients may be able to secure a home loan through these Federal Housing Administration (FHA) programs.*

DACA recipients, referred to as Dreamers, can apply for the full range of mortgage loan programs available through the FHA. Some of these FHA programs include low down payment options, some offer lower credit score requirements, while another allows approved borrowers to finance the cost of renovation with a home purchase.

To begin the loan approval process, the borrower must meet the criteria below:

  • Borrower must have a valid Social Security Number
  • The property being financed must be the borrower’s primary residence
  • The borrower must provide an Employment Authorization Document, issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), to prove eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Borrowers must meet the same program requirements as U.S. citizens.
