The Community Development Reinvestment Act (CRA) encourages banks, its officers, and employees to be involved in their communities. Under the regulation, a bank may receive credit for community development services conducted by the bank and its employees. The CRA regulation defines community development services as a service that:

Has as its primary purpose community development;
Is related to the provision of financial services; and
Benefits Low-to-Moderate-Income individuals, families, businesses, and/or areas.
