Mark Potter has built a reputation as a leader in the mortgage industry over the past 22 years. Mark grew up in Longview, TX and graduated from The University of Alabama in 1993 after obtaining his Bachelor’s in Business Marketing. Once he graduated, Mark moved to the DFW area to begin his career in the mortgage industry, and moved to McKinney in 1997.
Mark entered the industry for the same reason he loves what he does today, which is helping people fulfill their dream of homeownership and meeting people from all walks of life. By working with such a diverse array of clients, he finds a sense of community in what he does. When Mark reflects on the most rewarding thing about his career, he recalls a time when he worked with a gentleman that was just getting on his feet after some hard time.
Mark persevered through the difficult hurdles to make sure he was able to get the home his clients family needed. The day after closing, this particular client called Mark in tears to thank him for all the dedication it took to make it all happen. Most larger lenders focus is transactional instead of relational, but it’s because of all of the calls, emails, and notes from past clients such as this that Mark puts focus on nurturing the relationships with his clients.
He believes the most important aspect of facilitating excellent service to his clients is clear and precise communication – which is exactly what Mark has to offer.
His passion is developing strong local relationships with the residence of McKinney and North Collin County.
Along with providing excellent service to his clients, Mark is also focused on continual education in the rapidly changing mortgage industry. What he loves most about being a part of First Bank is the sense of work family and personal attention to customers that is offered by First Bank. At First Bank you’re not just a number – you’re a person and have a story that is important to your own journey of home ownership.
Mark and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 20 years, and together they have 2 sons – William (14), and Andrew (10). Both boys play football, so Mark loves spending his weekends attending his son’s football games, going golfing, and hunting. You may also find Mark volunteering; either at his church, First United Methodist Church, or with the Boy Scouts of America. Mark’s school teachers would have probably described him as someone that had a great sense of humor and easy going.
Although some loan officers at larger companies have set hours, Mark always makes himself available to his clients when they need him the most. He invites you to give him a call on his personal cell phone to see how he can help you, so give him a call today at 214-763-9192.
